Hi, my name is Maret Moran! I'm a UX/UI Designer at YETI, currently live in Austin, TX 🤠
I graduated from the University of Alabama in 2019 with a degree in Business Management and Entrepreneurship. I worked as a freelance web designer off and on throughout college. After graduation, I worked as a sales representative for a home builder in Houston.
Through this experience, I learned how to serve clients and ask the right questions in order to find the best solution for them. During this time, I realized my true passion was designing in a way that serves others so I decided to pursue a career in UX/UI Design. While studying UX/UI, I’ve noticed several parallels between the process of creating a design and a business idea as a solution to a problem which has been exciting to me.
My goal when I'm designing something is to always create a positive impact on other people's lives. I believe UX/UI is the perfect fit for me because it combines my design and business experience, all while empathically aiming to create a better experience for the users.
Growing up, I always was designing and creating things whether it was writing songs and poems or painting and sketching. I taught myself guitar and piano as a kid and have never stopped playing!
I spent two summers abroad in college - one in Greece and Italy and another in Spain. I loved getting to learn about new cultures and ways of living. Also as a member of the LGBT community, I believe that it's important to learn how to understand those that are different than you.
I played soccer for 13 years competitively and miss it everyday. Leading my high school team to the state championship as a captain is an experience I'll never forget. I've recently started playing tennis for fun (something I picked up in quarantine). I also love hiking, skateboarding, snowboarding, and surfing.
I've gotten into podcasts recently (my favorite being Unlocking Us with Brené Brown) and am always in pursuit of growing and learning. Meditation has also become a regular practice for me which has been a game changer.
