YETI Coolers

An agency we had hired in the past created a large collection of icons for each product we sell at YETI. Over time we found that their icons did not match our brand styling for icons. We also found that they did not meet ADA standards because lines tended to blend together with the high complexity and heavy line weight these icons had.
Majority of the icons in this project were net new icons. However, some work went into taking the icons we had received from the agency and adjusting them to have a consistent line weight and simplifying them to match our other icons existing on the site. These icons are primarily used to allow users to filter our Category LPs.
You'll see some icons (e.g. the Mug icon) that were updated that look pretty similar to the version provided by the agency. The changes I made for those were cleaning up anchor points, adjusting curved lines to be symmetrical and match other curves in the icon, and creating white space to prevent lines from bleeding into each other. I believe these small changes made a huge difference.
For this project, I was tasked to only create one icon which would be the Hoodie icon to mix into our other apparel icons on our Apparel LP that are used to filter the page.
Although this was a small project, we had several iterations and design reviews for this one icon that I would like to share. My first version didn't work out because I created it in a vacuum and didn't consider what icons it would be sitting next to. After seeing that the other apparel icons were square proportions with equal visual weight throughout, I had to go back to the drawing board.
Version 2 solved the problem from the first iteration but after chatting with the stakeholders (Merch team) before my final handoff, they requested that I add in the drawstrings and front pocket.
